THE FRAMEWORK BEHIND THE PRACTICE

The Seven Pillars

A strengths-focused framework I developed for working with the full range of a person’s intelligence. Wisdom is already present; our work together is to rebalance where it is carried.

THE PREMISE

Wisdom is already present.

My practice is organised around the Seven Pillars of Wise Mynd, a framework I developed for working with the full range of a person’s intelligence. The premise is simple and evidence-based: wisdom is already present in each of these sources. Difficulty arises not because something is missing, but because some pillars are over-relied upon, some have been silenced, and some are carrying weight they were never designed to hold alone.

This is a strengths and values focused way of working. It assumes you arrive with resources, not just problems, and it treats the full range of what you know, in your body, your history, your relationships and your community, as clinically meaningful. It is also rigorous: what we do with a pillar profile is grounded in evidence-based psychological practice, careful assessment and clear formulation.

  • Rational, the intelligence of thought, analysis and discernment.
  • Emotional, the intelligence of feeling, intuition and inner knowing.
  • Corporeal, the intelligence of the body and nervous system.
  • Spiritual, the intelligence of meaning, purpose and values.
  • Cultural, the intelligence of identity, community and social context.
  • Intergenerational, the intelligence carried across lineage, biology and story.
  • Relational, the intelligence of connection, attachment and being truly known.

When we work together, I am listening for which sources of wisdom are over-relied upon, which have been silenced, and which are carrying weight they were never designed to hold alone. Each pillar is explored in depth within the work itself.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

Take the self-assessment

The short self-assessment below takes about two minutes. It works for individuals, for managers and teams supporting someone in public life, for organisations, and for practitioners reflecting on their own clinical work. You will see your profile as a simple visual, with a suggested starting point.

This is a self-assessment for reflection, not a clinical assessment or screening tool. It does not diagnose, and no score carries clinical meaning on its own. If it raises something you would like to explore properly, I would be glad to hear from you.
